On March 8, 2011, millions of people around the world will come together in this unprecedented event to celebrate the expanding leadership role of women and the power of women to change the world.

This live four-hour global broadcast will feature Women’s Day celebrations from around the world, stellar performances from multi-venue concerts and today’s foremost visionary leaders who will share their insights on the transformative power of women in global society.

Our mission is to ignite a global movement to advance the leadership of women, to empower women and girls with education, and economic opportunity to raise much needed funds to achieve these goals. As a result we can expect sustained community impact that will continue for generations to come.

The potential for development is striking when women are given access to economic opportunity. We can significantly break the cycle of poverty by unleashing the unused potential of millions of women worldwide. WomenAid Live! will be the first global, multimedia platform devoted to the issues affecting women and girls – these same issues are the most critical issues affecting the world today.

To launch WomenAID Live! the first historic global multi media event to celebrate and advance the leadership role of girls and women worldwide, WomanAid Live was established as a commitment at the Clinton Global Initiative.

It recognizes that empowering women with education and economic opportunity is central to the eradication of war, of systemic poverty, of culture-sanctioned violence, and of many of the global issues facing the world today.
